Prague Clubs

Prague Clubs

New to Prague ? Just got a job in the Czech Republic ? On holiday ? Read below !

Where to party...

Please read below for a short description and review of some of the most popular clubs in Prague.
Some of these require an entry fee, some are free to get in. Sometimes the entry fee will also get you
a free drink. Remember that in most cases its possible to ask to go in for a quick look without
paying the entry fee, so you can see if the place is nice.
None of the places below had a dress code, so as long as youre not dressed like a homeless person you should be fine.
Some places will ink stamp you to allow getting in and out once youve paid the entry fee, and more fancy
ones will provide a paper bracelet.
On rare occasions the bouncers will search you for weapons or dangerous items. Also most places will have a place to leave your coat, expect to pay around 20 CZK and you will get a numbered ticket back. Do not lose this ticket.
Remember that tolerance for drunk driving is zero in the Czech Republic, so dont drink and drive.
Dont get a taxi from outside the club, call one by phone, taxis in Prague are notoriously dodgy, some people
have been charged 99 CZK per kilometer. For a list of reputable taxi companies click here.

Techtle Mechtle
Prague 2

My favourite club in Prague, with a convenient location, very good music, mostly nice people and affordable prices. It has two areas actually, a downstairs which is for the younger customers, and an upstairs which tends to attract the older ones. They are both very nice though, and you can have great fun in both. Entrance is around 100 crowns and you normally get a drink. There is also a place to leave your coat, for a small charge.
People are mostly locals and expats, but some tourists too, although not nearly as many as in the clubs around Mustek. Lots of girls. Recommended !

Nebe
Prague 1

Right in the center of Prague(they actually have two locations, see the website for more info), this is a nice place with a nice atmosphere. Lots of tourists if thats what youre looking for.
Entrance is free, but drinks tend to be quite expensive, and it gets very very crowded. A nice place to visit as a group, not so much when you are one or two friends, because everybody seems to come in large groups to this club. Music is whatever is a recent hit, with the occasional classics mixed in.

Bodeguita del Medio
Prague 1

A havana themed club/restaurant/cigar shop, very nice to visit when you want to try something different. Great for dancing to latino music, they often have live shows in the upstairs section, with dancers and live singers. Entrance is free but prices are quite high, expect to pay around 160 czk for a mojito. Lots of tourists of course, since its in the center. Recommended !

Infinity
Prague 3

Mostly a restaurant and bar, but it has a very small club downstairs, which can get very very crowded.
You dont pay to get in but prices are quite high. Because its so small and crowded most of the time its very hard to breathe in there. The good part is that it seems to be a very good place to meet people, and it looks very classy.
The average age is probably around 28-30, and the music is also quite nice, a mix of commercial dance and pop with some oldies thrown in.
Dont come by car, it is almost impossible to find a place to park, except parking in the blue line area, which
could get your car towed.

Sasazu
Prague 7

An expensive club to get in, expect to pay around 350 CZK just for the entrance on a Saturday, less on Friday. Once you get in the drinks are not that expensive though, around 100 CZK for a normal cocktail. There is a very large dancing area in the middle, so lots of space, and the air is cleaner than in most Prague clubs.
Tables and chairs surround the dancing area, and there are two main bars, one close to the entrance, and one close to the bathrooms.
There is also an upstairs, which is labelled as a VIP area, where tables are very expensive, and where most of the prostitutes hang out. Average age is probably around 25-30, but there are plenty of younger people too.
Ive seen many asian people in this club, not sure why. Music is mostly commercial house and electronic.
There also seem to be a lot of mafia types hanging around in the club and around the club entrance. Its best to call for a taxi by phone than to take one of the ones waiting outside, as they look pretty dodgy.
You can park without problems inside the compound where the club is located.

Lucerna
Prague 1

Entrance is about 100 czk.
Very close to Wenceslas Square, this is a club mostly for young people, around 20 or less. Music is quite nice depending on the night, they might have 90s hits, disco, or something else. The place doesnt look very nice,  more like a warehouse than a club, and its not very clean.
Prices are not exactly low with it being in the center but its a good place to relax and the people seem nice and normal(no mafia types or prostitutes).
Because it is so close to Wenceslas parking is a problem if you want to come by car, but in the weekends you can park for free on Stepanska street or any other green or orange area around if you can find a place.

Duplex
Prague 1

Entrance is 250 CZK.
Mostly a place for foreigners(and girls trying to spend their money). Looks nice and modern, there is
a quieter lounge area downstairs, and a loud club area upstairs, both with bars. The club area can be a
difficult place to breathe, so unless you like loud music in your years the lounge area with a balcony
can be a nicer place to hang out.
Cocktails are more expensive than in most places(around 120-150 czk), and the average age is probably around 30, although Ive seen some very young people too.
Lots of foreigners, not all nice, but seems to be a pretty safe place.
A good place to meet tourists who are in town for a few days.

James Dean
Prague 1

Free entrance. A very nice club, with mostly nice people.
There is a cage with two very nice dancers, and the music is also nice, a mixture of 90s and current hits. They tend to play a lot of older american music which can get boring after a while.
Prices are average, cocktails are around 100 CZK.
A good place to meet people, good mix of locals and foreigners, about 50/50.
A bit hard to find, but definately worth it. Recommended !

Coco Club
Prague 1

Entrance is free, so is leaving your coat.
A very small club, with techno music, very crowded. Not a good place to try alone or with just a friend. Better to come as a
group and if you like techno and electronic music.
Very loud and a bit hard to breathe, and the drinks are a bit expensive.

Karlovy Lazne
Prague 1

Entrance is around 200 CZK.
Apparently one of the biggest clubs in Europe, spread over five different levels, with different music.
It certainly has a lot of space, but none of the floors are exactly appealing. Not a lot of people, mostly tourists who found the place on the internet. If this club was once great, now its no longer a big deal.
Music was not great on either floor, and the atmosphere was quite boring.
Also the prices are higher than average, so not really worth it. Not recommended !
