So Galaxy Alpha doesnt retain the flagship honours for long and as promised, we have Galaxy Note 4 among us, priced at a flagship affordable (pun-intended) Rs 58,300 and what more, you can get the Note 4 in the country as soon as,on sale on October 17th, the same day as Apple is launching the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus in India.
As part of its introductory offer, Vodafone is offering up to 2GB of data per month for subscribers who are not active on data packs. Subscribers with active data packs will get up to 1GB per month for two months.
�The Galaxy Note 4 is an example of Samsungs commitment to deliver iconic and differentiated products. The Note 4 is innovation with the combination of an enhanced S Pen, large and vivid display and superior productivity features to provide the most refined Galaxy experience to our customers,� Samsung India VP (Mobile and IT) Asim Warsi said.
On the software side, Samsung has used an interface that is largely the same as that of Galaxy S5. The Galaxy Note 4 phablet will come pre-loaded with support for 14 regional Indian languages, including Hindi, Punjabi, Bengali, Gujarati, Urdu, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, Marathi, Oriya and Assamese.
It also comes with additional software optimized to make use of the S Pen stylus. Compared to Note 3, users can multitask better in multi-window mode of Galaxy Note 4, which supports minimizing apps as floating widgets. It also has better text selection and crops selected areas on the screen for later viewing. The S Note app gets its own widget on the Galaxy Note 4, so that users can access the core functions of the stylus as soon as they unlock it.

Despite a higher-resolution display, Samsung says that Galaxy Note 4 will deliver 7.5% more battery life than its predecessor due to an optimized interface. The phablet has a 3,220mAh battery (just 20mAh more than that of Galaxy Note 3), and features fast-charging technology, so the battery can go from 0% to 50% in 30 minutes.
The camera on the Note 4 sees a big upgrade from the Note 3. Not only the resolution goes up now to 16 megapixels, but it also features a phase detect auto-focus system and optical image stabilisation. The rear camera has 16MP resolution and comes, a feature that has become common among smartphones nowadays. Samsung has become a part of the selfie brigade with a 3.7MP front camera that allows users to take wide-angle selfies (120-degree).
Samsung has been facing strong competition from homegrown players like Micromax and Karbonn. Though it continues to be the leader in the Indian smartphone market, Samsung has seen its share coming down from 35 per cent in January-March 2014 quarter to 29 per cent in April-June quarter, according to research firm IDC.
Micromax, on the other hand, has grown its share from 15 per cent in Q1 to 18 per cent in the following quarter. India is one of the fastest growing smartphone markets globally, with 18.42 million smartphones shipped in Q2 alone.
